"My first thought about this 4 mth white and black puppy was "impressive". He has everything and more than you would expect at this stage of development. Appealing handsome head with correct eye in colour and shape, square in muzzle, correct bite. Very well angulated at the front and rear, with fore chest developing well. Impressive in bone and body proportions. Correct set to his long tail and moved so well with an even gait. Turned out to perfection and handled well to get the very best from him. I hope he has a very bright future. BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW."

"5 mth black bitch. Excellent shape and make with proportions correct. Attractive feminine head with correct dark eye, a good ear set, good muzzle and correct bite. Well set shoulder and well angulated throughout. Good width to back with good ribbing. Correct tail set and length. Another moving well with confidence. Very unlucky to meet the male puppy, lost to his more impressive body and bone. Another one I shall watch with interest."

"4 mth white and black litter sister to 1. Rather raw in body compared to 1 & 2 but with lots to admire. Good strong head, eye slightly loose at present, correct in colour. Ear set correct as is muzzle and bite. Good fore angulation but slight over angulated in the rear. Bone to fit size. Level top line held on the move although not as composed in movement as 1 & 2."

"6 mth brown. Eye catching quality exhibit with everything to admire. Already has size, balance and substance with good bone and large round feet. Excellent height to length ratio. Broad head with textbook features, excellent eye shape and colour which is always a plus in a brown. Level top line with good ribs, rounded croup and a wide base to the tail. Well angulated front and rear which gave him the edge on the move in the class. Sympathetically handled and well presented. He should have a bright future. BEST PUPPY IN SHOW."

"6 mth white and black. Taller than 1 without the substance in body and bone at present. Balanced outline. Classic head with a dark eye, he has a handsome expression with good muzzle and bite. Level top line and good ribbing with a good strong rear. Once he settles more on move he should do well."

"8 mth black with a good outline and typical head with a dark well shaped eye and strong muzzle. Taller again than 1 & 2 so looking more leggy. Good solid top line and well angulated throughout. Rather long in the rear pastern which affects the movement when moving away."

"11 mth white and black. Smaller type with a compact deep body. Head developing along the correct lines. Good muzzle and bite, eyes dark but showing some haw, which may correct as the head develops more. Enough neck leading to good shoulder and quality bone and feet. Slightly soft in top line. The better mover in this class. Excellent coat, crystal white with no ticking. Needs ring craft to get the best from this boy."

"6 mth raw black, giving much away in body, substance and maturity. Pleasing head with a good square muzzle and correct bite. Bone to fit size. Moved around the ring with a happy demeanour."

"8 yr black. Large, upstanding quality male. Super breed type head, large, broad and free from any wrinkle. Dark eye, neat ears and correct muzzle and bite. Excellent bone and substance throughout. Textbook height to length ratio. In hard condition and beautifully turned out. Very good angulation and holds himself well on the stack and the move."

"8 yr black. Another quality male. Large in stature. Appealing expression but not as clean in head quality as 1 with slight wrinkle to his very short square muzzle. Good dark eyes and neat ears. Quality bone and substance. Very good height to length ratio. Good angulation and pushed 1 hard on the move. In excellent coat."

"Approaching 10 yrs, black large male with good substance. Pleasing strong head with everything correct and in balance, not overdone. Another boy with good body proportions and good angulation. Not quite the strength in movement as 1 and 2 but made a very good account of himself. Three super males."

"Approaching 18 mth black. Smaller male of the two. He stacks well, walking into a natural stand. Very good in outline and shape. Not quite the strength in head of 2 but has a soft benign expression with good dark eye, ears well placed. Good bone on straight legs and well-shaped feet. Correctly angulated with a strong top line. He moved well around the ring and was more accurate in footfall across and back. Well presented and handled."

"Approaching 18 mth black. A taller male than 1 with a larger head which was not as clean due to slight wrinkle to his strong square muzzle. Very good eye shape and colour, large nostrils. Very good bone and well-shaped feet. Good substance throughout with a level top line. Not as clean in movement towards and away but showing good profile movement."

"18 mth black. Most impressive male both on the stack and the move. Excellent in proportions and shaping. Large broad head with correct shaped eye and strong square muzzle, more flew than ideal, neat ears with correct bite. Excellent bone, feet, angulation and strength to body. Level top line well set tail. His textbook angulation gave great extension in front and impressive drive from the rear. RCC."

"19 mth white & black. Good size and outline. Very good attractive markings with no ticking. Broad head with dark well-shaped eye. Good muzzle and bite, small triangular ear. I did find the head qualities more preferable in profile than face on, just not quite masculine enough at present. Good neck and shoulders, deep, broad chest with very good bone. Level top line and good croup. Well set on tail. Moved with drive but not as clean and accurate coming towards and moving away as 1."

"20 mth black. Large male with a good strong masculine head with more flew than desirable. Small mid-brown eye and small correctly shaped triangular ear. Mid length of neck down to straight parallel legs, not the substance of 1 & 2 in bone. Balanced angulation and a strong top line. Moved well enough in profile but lacking extension and drive in comparison and was close behind when moving away."

"2 yr black. Not the biggest male in this class but one with a good balanced outline. Very good breed type head giving a noble expression. Good length of neck set on well laidback shoulder. Deep chest and well ribbed back, solid top line and a well-rounded strong croup. Tail set correct. Moves with great enthusiasm, with excellent driving rear. Very positive coming towards and moving away. Movement won through to clinch this very good class. Not in full jacket today."

"3 yr black. This boy appeals greatly in shape and outline and at first glance I thought he would be my winner. Broad attractive head, so soft in expression with excellent small correctly shaped ears and dark expressive eyes. Would prefer slightly more length to neck. Shoulder correct and deep in the chest with good ribs. Level top line and well-rounded croup. Bone to fit his stature. Very good on the move, which was the correct speed but not the strength in rear of 1. Excellent dense flat coat, very good presentation. Two very good dogs."

"23 mth black. Impressive size on this upstanding male. Good proportions in height to length. Very good broad head with strong square muzzle, ear placement correct, slightly loose in eye. Huge bone and substance with excellent feet. Body all fitting together well, with depth and width to chest, good ribs and strong rear. Good free movement especially in profile, just not as positive coming towards and moving away."

"3 yr brown. Mid-sized boy with good balance. Broad handsome head with very good proportions. Very good eye shape and colour matching well with coat. Neat well set correctly shaped ear. Broad in muzzle with good bite. Nothing exaggerated on this boy, mid length to neck moderate angulation, deep chest, broad back and good bone and feet. Moved well. Put down in a very good rich dense coat."

"3 yr black. Not the biggest in the class and not the balance of 2 in profile as he is slightly longer cast than ideal for his height. Appeals greatly in expression with a large broad head, small dark well shaped eye. His short square muzzle has just a fraction too much lip than ideal and a slight wrinkle. Excellent length to neck to well laid shoulder. Broad, deep chest with very good bone to straight parallel legs and well-shaped feet. Very good angulation with gave him the edge on movement which had plenty of drive from the rear and good front extension and impressive side profile movement. Shown in tip top condition in body and coat."

"2.5 yr black. Larger male than 1 with a better profile balance. Appeals greatly in head and expression, nothing overdone here. Eye, ear and muzzle all breed standard with a true ahh factor expression. Less neck length than 1 but better ribbing and shorter loin. Deep broad chest and ideal bone. Not quite the angulation of 1. A steady even paced mover, but closer behind when moving away and not quite the ring presence of 1."

"5 yr black. Large male with a good typical outline. Heavier in head, with a deep muzzle which spoils profile. Would prefer a slightly darker eye and a better ear set. Moderate length to neck, good width and depth to chest and very good bone. Level strong top line. Front angulation is better than the rear."

"6 yr black. Mature male with a very good balance in height to length. Typical masculine breed standard head, nothing overdone, dark well shaped eye and neat ears. Moderate neck, very good shoulder, deep broad chest. Well boned with correct feet. Broad back with strong loin. Very good even angulation fore and aft giving this boy a good even stride in profile and an accurate foot fall when coming towards and moving away."

"3.5 yr black. Taller male with balanced outline. Very good head piece, which is correct in all aspects. Very good neck, shoulder, angulation and bone. A quality male who needs time to fill into his ample frame. Moves as his angulation would suggest, carrying his large frame well and holding a level top line. Handled to advantage and well presented."

"6 yr black. Good proportions and balance in profile. Plainer in head, but correct in all aspects with a good deep clean muzzle. Moderate length to neck, deep chest but needs more width. Level in top line and a very good strong loin, but body narrower all through than I would expect at this mature age. Good angulation which gave an even stride to profile movement."

"4 yr black. Medium sized male who impresses in both balance and breed type. Broad appealing head, with a soft expression. Eye rounder in shape than ideal but a good dark colour. Muzzle is short and square with no wrinkle. Textbook bite. Neat well fitted ears all add to his appeal. Excellent make and proportions all through, from his neck to the tip of this tail, nothing is exaggerated. Good bone and very neat feet. Put down in first class order in both body and coat condition. Moves with a tremendous driving rear, strong and powerful covering the ground well with good width between the rear pads when moving away. CC, Res BIS."

"2.5yr black. Ran close to 1 and pushed all the way. Medium sized with excellent deep, broad body, shape and angulation. Heavier in head than 1 with a deeper muzzle with slight wrinkle, dark eye and excellent bite. Very good bone and feet. Profile movement is excellent with correct reach and drive. Better front when coming towards than 1 but couldn't match the power and strength of 1 in the rear."

"5 yr black. Large heavier set male giving the appearance of being slightly longer in body than the first two. Stronger in head type and not as refined and clean. Moderate neck, excellent front angulation with very deep chest of good width. Best of bone. Well ribbed back and in hard condition. Very good strong rear and well set tail. Not co-operating with his handler today and not giving his all on the move."

"7 yrs. Large upstanding male with excellent height to length proportions. Handsome and appealing large, broad head with dark small eye, smooth square muzzle and correct ear. Very good length of neck leading to a deep, broad chest and excellent bone and feet. Broad in back with a firm top line which was held on the move. Well set tail held correctly. Moved well in side profile and coming towards but a little close behind. In great body condition and well presented."

"4 yrs. Well balanced male with good body substance. Correct head, broad and strong, lovely dark eye of correct shape, deep square muzzle and very good ear. Very good length of neck and good shoulder leading to a deep and broad chest. Not quite the bone of one. Broad and level top line and a well angulated rear. He made the most of himself on the move which was positive in all directions. Sadly very out of coat."

"10 yrs. What a super veteran and a credit to his owner for his great condition. Still holds a great shape on the stack and on the move. So correct in head, clean and balanced. Very good bone and angulation. Showing his age today on the move in much younger company."

"3 yrs. Medium sized male of balanced proportions holding a very good outline. Classic head, not overdone in any way, with a lovely shade of brown eye, strong square muzzle with neat ears. Moderate length of neck, well made and broad all through body with excellent substance in bone. Correctly angulated to enable him to move with style and drive. BEST BROWN DOG."

"Very good sized male with textbook markings. Shows a correct outline with height to length ratio correct. Broad handsome head with a blaze, small and correct shape to dark eye. Strong neck of good length, with correct shoulder and fore angulation. Very well boned. Deep chest, broad back and ideal short strong loin. Correct moderate rear angles giving him driving action to the rear which has good width between the pasterns. BEST WHITE & BLACK DOG, BEST WHITE & BLACK IN SHOW."

"7 mths, good size and shape to this black girl. Broad in head with a soft expression. Correct ear placement and bite with a deep square muzzle. Round in eye but dark in colour (unusual to see one unpigmented third eye in a black). Good in shoulder and well fitted at elbow. Level top line and a very good rear construction finished with a thick long tail. Moved better on second attempt."

"6.5 mth black with a pleasing expression, liked her head proportions in profile. Correct muzzle and dark eye although more round in shape. Not the bone and substance of 1. Correct foot shape. Good level top line with adequate angles front and rear giving her an even stride on the move. Not quite the ring presence of 1."

"11 mth black. Full of breed type and making good size and shape. Sweet expression to this girl, rounder in eye than ideal but very dark in colour. Ear set, muzzle and bite all correct. Good straight parallel forelegs leading to correct feet. Good reach in neck, correct shoulder and front angulation. Good breadth and depth to chest. Top line could be more level at this stage, I hope this changes as she drops into her rear. Long tail with correct set. Moving well with an even stride in profile."

"11 mth black. Two similar girls here, splitting hairs and could very easily change places on another day. This girl had the better eye shape but not the sweet expression of 1. Very much same make, shape and movement. Two quality girls."

"7 yr black. Still a special lady, and stood out as the clear winner here. Classic attractive head, which is correct in eye shape and colour, ear set and size, muzzle and bite. Good neck, correct fore chest, textbook angles, very good bone and feet. Poker straight top line. Still enthusiastic on the move, she has great style showing reach and drive whilst holding a level to line. BEST VETERAN BITCH, BEST VETERAN IN SHOW."

"7 yr black. Attractive headpiece, everything correct in eye, ear, muzzle and bite. Good neck, well placed shoulder, good length in leg. Level top line, breadth and depth to chest and well bodied. Excellent coat. Moving freely with good even strides. Another quality exhibit."

"8 yr brown. A great favourite of mine. Well up on size with balance to outline with excellent bone. Hands on everything to like and correct. Feminine expression with correct eye and good colour matching in with coat. Super preparation on this profuse coat. Moved steadily to achieve this placing."

"17 mth black. This girl is super quality all through. Balanced, with excellent side profile. Classy head, which is correct in all aspects. Textbook angulation fore and aft giving impressive side gate. Nothing exaggerated on this girl. Really takes the eye. Considered highly for top honours but losing out on the final run off. Her day will surely come."

"17 mth black. Unlucky to meet 1. Good in profile with balanced outline with good length of leg and showing a level top line. Textbook head. Good width between fore legs. Good side profile movement and correct width between rear when moving away but toeing in coming towards."

"12 mth black. Just into Junior so giving much away in maturity. Balanced exhibit with a good length of leg and a level top line. Pleasing head still in development, with correct dark eye and a good bite. Not the substance in bone of 1 & 2. Pleasing angles, unfortunately flew her tail on the move which spoils the outline."

"23 mth brown. Quality exhibit. Appeals in head and expression with good eye colour. Good reach in neck, good shoulder placement and length to upper arm. This girl was the first hands on with strong defined muscle to forelegs - which is sadly lacking in many exhibits. Correct angulation which gave her a strong action in profile, the drive from the rear was most impressive."

"20 mth black. Much larger bitch in stature. Great size all through, liked her balance in body. Head planes balanced and correct with a good eye and colour. Good neck and shoulder, balanced in angles. Broad back and deep chest, very large bone and feet. Moved well in side profile but not the drive from the rear of 1 and untidy moving away."

"3 yr brown. Balanced with good proportions in height to length. Smaller in stature than 2 & 3. Correct head, excellent eye and colour, small ear and square muzzle with good lip coverage. Strong level top line, bone to fit her size. Well put together in all departments, with even angulation which gave her the advantage on the move keeping a strong level top line. Coupled with positive footfall both coming towards and moving away clinched the class."

"2 yr black. Quality head, soft expression with the darkest of eye. For me one of the best female heads of the day. Good ear, muzzle and bite. Neck set well on to good shoulder. Well boned with plenty of width to back, well ribbed. Good wide croup and correct tail. Lost here on her top line being a little soft and rear action could not match that of 1."

"5 yr white and black. Very pretty and appeals in head qualities. Correct eye shape with a good dark colour. Correct ear and bite. Moderate length in neck, good fore chest and bone. Good all round angulation. Broad tail base. Good spring to rib and breadth to back. Lost her top line on the move and stacked. Needs to lose weight to give her a better advantage."

"3 yr black. Excellent body and balance in height to length ratio. Appeals greatly in head qualities. Dark correct eye, muzzle, ear and bite all breed standard. Good reach in neck to well-placed shoulder. Correct front angulation, excellent top line and rear. Excellent length in fore legs which are very well boned with rounded feet. Movement was positive with an even stride. A quality bitch with lots to admire. Sadly VERY out of coat but could not be denied this first place."

"5 yr black. Plainer in head than most, having said nothing out of place, good breadth and depth with the correct stop. Good shape to eye although a lighter brown in shade, which does detract from that softer melting look. Moderate neck, angulation, good bone and feet. Well ribbed and deep in chest. Moved with a steady typical gait."

"3 yr black. Splitting hairs here between 2 & 3. This girl lost out in top line on the stack and on the move. She has super head qualities, very feminine, good dark eye, correct muzzle, flew and bite. Deep body and well ribbed. Even angulation and good bone and feet. Steady mover with even stride."

"4 yr black. Appeals in build, height to length ratio is very good. Classic head with a dark eye, square muzzle and correct bite and well placed ear. Moderate neck, good shoulder, deep chest reaching to elbow. Good bone and feet. Correct ribbing and good width to thigh. Correct tail set and length. Moved the best in this class. Well handled."

"2 yr black. Elegant bitch with many fine qualities. Correct in height to length but finer in build all through than 1. Feminine head, with a melting expression. Dark eye, correct ear in set and size. Correct angles fore and aft. Chest reaches elbow and is ribbed well back. Correct tail and length. Put in a very good performance on the move, refreshingly not moved at a racing pace as most are. Not as positive in foot fall as 1. Finished off with first class presentation and an excellent coat. Lots to like and should mature well."

"4 yr black. Well up on size with good body proportions. Correct head in all aspects but not as soft and feminine as 2. Good in angulation, bone and feet. Moving with good even stride but a little untidy behind. Quality coat with good presentation."

"6 yr black with white flash to chest. An attractive strong bitch all through. Fully mature with excellent proportions in height to length ratio. Strong attractive head, dark eye and clean cut muzzle. Very good shoulder and front angulation leading to strong bone and good shaped feet. Well ribbed with a strong loin and level top line. Correct tail. Moved the best in profile and coming towards to clinch the class."

"4 yr black. Longer cast in body but quality all through. Close up to 1 and splitting hairs between these two quality females. Super feminine dignified head, darkest of eye, correct muzzle, ear and bite. Very good angulation to front and rear, deep chest, good bone and feet. Giving slightly in top line when stacked, and not as positive in movement coming towards. Presented in pristine condition, with dense glamourous coat and very well groomed."

"Taller female displaying good proportions. Body all fits well with no exaggerations. Plainer in head than 1 & 2 but everything breed standard. Good length to leg with very good bone. Not as refined in foot shape. Moving well with typical rolling gait. Three quality girls."

"2 yr black. Super make and shape on this young lady. At first glance she looks compact and strong. Quality head piece, attractive, broad, deep muzzle with no excessive flew. Her dark eye of correct shape gives her a melting expression. Good length to neck which is well set and correct shoulder and textbook fore angulation with defined fore chest - lacking in many exhibits - good bone and well-rounded feet. Broad in back, level in top line and well ribbed with a deep chest. Moved with great style with an excellent rear action holding a level top line."

"3.5 yr black. Glamourous and stylish. Good outline although longer cast than 1. Very good head in breadth with correct ear set and size, very good square muzzle. Eye spoils expression for me as it is round but it is dark in colour. Good length to neck leading to a very well angulated front assembly. Not the fore chest of 1. Very good in ribbing with broad back and a well set tail. Beautiful coat condition and presented to perfection. Movement not the fluidity or strength as 1 at the rear. Two very worthy champions."

"2 yrs. Excellent for size, well balanced in height to length ratio. Quality broad head with correct muzzle with no excessive flew, ear set and size and a correct bite. Eye a little round but dark in shade. Very good length to neck, correct shoulder, very good fore chest, correct fore angulation and well boned straight leg with a well-shaped foot. Chest is deep reaching to elbow. Broad in back with the right amount of ribbing. Strong loin and a well set tail. A free easy mover, with reach and driving from a powerful rear. Presented in excellent order and condition. Bitch CC, BEST BLACK BITCH & BEST IN SHOW. In the run off for Best In Show this bitch matched the male for ease and fluidity of movement and for balance in outline. My final thoughts went to the standard and one of the first lines – “The Newfoundland is a large working dog” - this clinched it. With the bitch being slightly larger in stature than the male, she had to be awarded Best In Show. Congratulations. Wonderful to see this girl make Champion within the following week."

"4 yrs. Very similar in size to 1 and another quality exhibit. Correct head, better shaped eye than 1 but not as dark in shade. Good length in neck and good shoulder. Angles fore and aft are balanced and she has very well boned legs. Not in her best jacket. Moves well with drive not as positive in rear as 1."

"2 yrs. Placed 4th in Post Graduate. Smaller and finer bitch all through than 1 & 2. Attractive pretty expression, with correct eye and ear. Moderate neck and balanced in angulation. Bone fits size. Longer than ideal in rear pasterns. Not as fluid on the move."

"3 yrs. A large upstanding girl who presents great strength with a balanced outline. Attractive broad head, correct eye shape with colour matching well with the rich coat, correct ear and bite. She excels in bone with correct angulation and great depth and width to chest. Her moderate rear gives her an easy long reaching stride, covering the ground with an easy action whilst holding the top line. One who looks like she could work all day long. Handled to best advantage to show her flowing steady action. A quality exhibit. RCC, BEST BROWN BITCH, BEST BROWN IN SHOW."
