The Newfoundland Club

As always, we are grateful for those who travel the distance to our chilly lake, we did not have the best turnout in terms of numbers; but as a result we had a lovely peaceful test weekend in the best Welsh weather this year! Every dog gave it their all and performed some excellent exercises. Those who did not pass their level just needed a little more practice and confidence in 1 or 2 elements (controlled swims/ underwater retrieves/ exchanges) to get those passes!
Over the weekend we had: 9 entered with 1 failure in Level A, and 14 entered with 8 passes in Level B (We had some superb first time passes in Level B, well done!). Unfortunately, the dogs struggled with the higher levels with 5 very close attempts at Level C, and only 1 attempt in Level D, but no passes. Thanks again to all those who came and made it a wonderful weekend by stepping in to judge and steward when needed; and to those who came to spend time together for a meal in the evening. The weather was less breezy on the Sunday making it easier for the dogs when retrieving articles and swimming. We had a total of 14 dogs entered in B with 8 of these achieving good passes. 
A special well done to those dogs passing their B for the first time and doing it in style. For those who did not quite pass, they were very close and the majority just need a little more practice in key areas - particularly the underwater retrieve and controlled swims. A big thank you to everyone who pitched in to help - both judges and stewards. Thank you to the Newfoundland Club for inviting us to judge and to The Welsh Newfoundland Activity Group for the excellent hosting of the event.

An extra thank you to The Newfoundland Club, The Welsh Newfoundland Activity Group and my fellow Judge for the opportunity to judge at B level for the first time. Well done to the two out of the four dogs I judged who passed; the other two will pass given a bit more training. 

It was a beautiful June morning at Bryn Bach Park for the second day of the tests hosted by WNAG.
We had one team entered on D today. Although the first two exercises were failed, subsequently completed beautifully as a training exercise. The final two elements were done without point loss. This lovely dog works calmly and steadily and we are confident the team will be successful soon.
