The Newfoundland Club

It's always great to be back at this venue, with plenty of space for the control section and direct access to the Forest of Dean, it provides variety for all levels of haul. Some good steady work from all the dogs and the ones that didn't make it were very close. Fortunately the weather held out for us, which always helps, and the excellent facilities on site, including a cafe and bar/restaurant, meant we were able to enjoy a good evening after the test. Thanks to everyone who judged, stewarded and generally helped out.

We had three entries for Level 1 at Whitemead today. It was a very pleasant February afternoon. Unfortunately one dog left the ring in the recall, but the ensuing zoomies were delightful. Provided his mum hides, I'm sure this won't be a problem next time. The remaining two dogs were successful in the manoeuvring section and preceded to the haul. We had a short haul through the forest and then the campsite with a couple of sample obstacles and both dogs gained passes. Our  thanks go to Sara Davies as Test Manager and Kevin Clarke as Call Steward and Jeff Burridge our  Haul Steward for their help and hospitality throughout the day.

There were two entries one of whom withdrew at the stay, leaving 1 to undertake the rest of the test, and who passed nicely.

We tested 4 dogs at this level, only 2 made it to the next element, the haul was challenging with all dogs doing very well, we had 2 very nice passes, thanks to the NC for asking us to judge, thanks also to the stewards and to WNAG for hosting the event and test manager Sara for organising everything.
