The Newfoundland Club
Recognising the achievements of Newfoundlands in Working Tests
Manager: Alan Godden Report
Unfortunately Grangewaters continue to be beset with either ailing dogs, or ailing stewards, accordingly it was another weekend of juggling
resources – and we are very grateful to all of our guests who lent their support to assist with stewarding over the weekend.
In total, we had 49 entries across the weekend. Saturday saw a total of 25 dogs swum, but due to limited stewards this was done through the one swim. Sunday, with a further 24 dogs to swim in Tests B and D both of which can be time consuming tests, forced us to run two swims to enable the day to finish at a sensible hour.
Personally, I must say a huge thank-you to Carol Taylor who undertook Scoring Steward duties for me on the Saturday, enabling me to lend a hand in the water, and then also to Bev Clarke who stepped into the breach for me on the Sunday to fulfil the role of Test Manager whilst I absconded to support my youngest daughter in her 1st One Day Event.
Across the weekend there were some terrific passes, but to all of those who didn’t quite succeed - better luck next time, it seems to have been a great weekend and enjoyed by all – thank-you all for your support.
The only sour note, was the unfortunate incident with one of our members who broke her fingers early on the Sunday ( we wont say how ) – but in true grit she soldiered on all day “ as she could still use her voice”……Terri you are a star….
To our Judges, the stewards, and all of our guests, thank-you for your support and I hope to see many of you again next water season.
Alan Godden.

Water Section C
Judges: Kevin Clarke & Martin Magorrion Report
At a breezy and slightly chilly Grangewaters as Martin and myself started judging 8 entrants in section C. All dogs tried their best with
special awards going to two dogs for entertainment value. Of the eight only one passed but the other showed great promise for the future. Thanks
to Grangewaters Working Newfoundlands for putting on the test and the Newfoundland Club for inviting us both to judge.

Water Section E
Judges: Martin Magorrion & Peter Webber Report
We had 4 dogs entered, with 2 passes.
The test went very smoothly with E4 being the main problem for passing.
The 2 passes were excellent and well done to all dogs who took part.
Many thanks to the stewards who provided very good stewarding and a well run test by Alan
